Following a chronological route from the 11th to the beginning of the 15th century, the tour includes works from the buildings that summarise the complex social, spiritual and political organisation of the city in the late Middle Ages. From the leonine protomes, telamons and figured capitals that adorned the Broletto Town Hall, to ornamental reliefs, frescoes, corbels and other decorations from the ancient city walls, public buildings in the city, convents and stately homes. The tour concludes with the wonderful Romanesque Oratory of Santa Maria in Solario, rich in frescoes, which houses the extremely precious Cross of Desiderius.
