The Festival
Starting from March 2025, the Brescia Photo Festival makes a comeback, promoted by the Municipality of Brescia and the Fondazione Brescia Musei, in collaboration with the CAVALLERIZZA – center of Italian photography and with the artistic direction of Renato Corsini.
The event presents a rich program of exhibitions dedicated to some of the most interesting and celebrated names in the Italian and international photography scene, all focused on the theme of Archives, referring to those places that hold testimonies telling the history of photography and its evolution.
An artist’s archive, in fact, consolidates over time and resists oblivion, opening up to society, its changes, and its ferment; safeguarding, protecting, and enhancing it becomes both a duty and an opportunity to create a shared heritage of absolute cultural value.
Once again this year, one of the most awaited events of the Brescia Photo Festival is the retrospective dedicated to one of the masters of contemporary photography.
After the Franco Fontana exhibition in 2024, this year’s protagonist will be Joel Meyerowitz (New York, 1938), who will be in Brescia on March 24 to inaugurate his first true retrospective ever held in Italy, set up at the Museo di Santa Giulia with the curatorship of Denis Curti, from March 25 to August 24, 2025.
The program of the Brescia Photo Festival will also be developed in the new location of Cavallerizza.
