From 31 March 2022 to 15 May 2022

The exhibition presents the report that Maurizio Frullani made in Eritrea, which lasted seven years, between 1993 and 2000.His method of work leads him to enter the world of his images, where Frullani knows the interpreters and gets from them the sharing of the photographic gesture, earning respect and trust, thanks to the right amount of sensitivity, approach and intellectual honesty.

The exhibition

Curated by Renato Corsini and Federica Luser

With his analogue SLR, Frullani creates a narration of people, of environments, of relationships, through intense portraits of this land of Africa. The environment of houses, courtyards, workshops become an integral part of a story in which women, children, elderly people, artisans are placed in a natural way showing with simplicity their lives and themselves. The objective does not appear to be lived as an intruder, but as something you can rely on because the photographer has the ability to represent their community in the respect of its rhythms of life. Here is that ancient gestures and outdated works, but also deep family relationships and simple children’s games are the ordinary that the shots of Smoothies make extraordinary.
