The project

The Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo celebrates its fourth year since its reopening, following the restoration of 2018, and welcomes its public with many important news.

A new exhibition dedicated to the paintings of the eighteenth century

The new itinerary, curated by Roberta D’Adda, coordinator of the collections and research area of Fondazione Brescia Musei, with the precious collaboration of the Foundation’s scientific committee and dedicated to the eighteenth century is the result of donations, loans and loans.

The project involves 7 rooms and enriches the spaces of the Pinacoteca with new chromatic choices. An excursus in the century of enlightenment, enriched with works by Eberhard Keilhau known as Monsù Bernardo (1624 – 1687), by Antonio Cifrondi (1656 – 1730), by a follower of Pietro Bellotti, by Giacomo Francesco Cipper known as Todeschini (1664 – 1736) and by Giacomo Ceruti known as Pitocchetto (1698 – 1767) together with the most characteristic genres present in the Pinacoteca: the inclusion in the exhibition of 4 further paintings of the Brescian Civic Collections, the “living natures” of Giorgio Duranti (1683 – 1768) until today kept in storage, up to the “paintings of pygmies” by Faustino Bocchi.

Works from the legacy of Domenico Galantino, the loan BPER Banca e famiglia Fenici Gramignola, the donation of Clara Bottarelli in memory of Pierangelo Gramignola, collector and patron, to whose memory the meeting is dedicated, scheduled for Friday, April 2 at the Auditorium of Santa Giulia. In addition, the participants of the conference can visit the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo free of charge on April 2 and 3.

A new visual identity

The Pinacoteca will also be equipped with a new visual identity, created by Studio Tassinari/Vetta.

A new format: PTM ARTI+

To underline the activity of the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo as a place of experimentation and research, from the end of March also starts PTM ARTI+, a program of shows that opens the museum to different artistic disciplines and to different audiences.

The dance will be the first of the arts to be staged in the Pinacoteca with the work of the resident choreographer of the National Dance Foundation / Aterballetto Diego Tortelli.

Stanze \ Rooms  is a performance designed to measure for the spaces of Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo where Tortelli imagines a choreographic and musical journey, in which history and innovation meet.

The PTM ARTI+ format provides, in the coming months, events dedicated to experimental music, theater, music, poetry, in addition to dance.

New appointments of PTM Andata/ Ritorno

The events of PTM Andata/ Ritorno continue, the project of Brescia Museums Foundation that transforms the “departures” linked to the loan requests of the work in “arrivals” of guest works. An opportunity to welcome in the rooms of the Pinacoteca masterpieces in dialogue with the permanent collection: in 2022 the Museum will host new works by Vincenzo Foppa, Lorenzo Lotto, Francesco Hayez.
