Tito Speri. Objects of a conspirator of the Risorgimento

The dossier exhibition is dedicated to the figure of one of the protagonists of the heroic events of 1849, the conspirator Tito Speri (Brescia, 2 August 1825 – Mantua, 3 March 1853), a young patriot animated by anti-Austrian sentiments and one of the most famous instigators of the city’s insurrection.

In 2024 Fondazione Brescia Musei published a volume by Enrico Valseriati entitled Tito Speri. Storia e oggetti di un cospiratore del Risorgimento (Tito Speri. History and Objects of a Conspirator of the Risorgimento), which traces the elaboration of Speri’s memory in public space, as well as the vicissitudes of the objects that belonged to him and the iconography dedicated to him between the second half of the 19th century and today.

The 200th anniversary of his birth has provided the opportunity to present a series of objects at the Museo del Risorgimento that will remain on display from 1 April to 29 June and which document the best-known aspects of his existence.
These will include a photographic portrait of Tito Speri, one of his pistols and a notebook of his with military strategies.
