The exhibition
Curated by: Margherita Magnino e Carolina Zani
The exhibition Inclassificabile (Unclassifiable) by photographer Gianni Pezzani is part of the Brescia Photo Festival programme, whose title chosen for the seventh edition is Testimoni (Witnesses).
Gianni Pezzani began his research at the end of the 1970s, a lively moment for Italian photography that was trying to break away from neo-realist imagery.
The exhibition will feature the series Viaggio senza ritorno (Journey without Return), a project that focuses on the Italian landscape, in particular the city of Parma, the photographer’s place of origin. Pezzani renders a plain in which the presence of the car becomes the symbol of a disorderly but necessary wandering. Colour becomes the tool with which the author distances himself from the image/document to support a dreamlike narration.
The work is part of a more extensive project, begun in 2008, which sees the return of some Italian and international cities during the night hours.
