The major exhibition, entitled Franco Fontana. Colore (Franco Fontana. Colour), curated by Studio Fontana, promoted by Fondazione Brescia Musei and co-produced with Skira as part of Testimoni, 7th edition of the Brescia Photo Festival, presents 122 images taken from 1961 to 2017.
The exhibition, divided into 4 sections, documents Franco Fontana’s research on the themes “landscape”, “urban landscape”, “presence absence”, “people”, “American light”, “fragments”, “motorways” and “asphalts”: for the author, everything is or becomes landscape.
Franco Fontana, an internationally renowned photographer, prefers colour as a subject to investigate and report reality through the medium of photography. Light and colour range thus define spaces, architecture, stories and life.
With his thematic series, Fontana has made colour an actor and not a medium to convey a message. Natural and urban landscapes are the focus of the exhibition dedicated to him in the spaces of the Museo di Santa Giulia: in fact, Fontana has always been attracted to surfaces, urban portions, layers of history and details of everyday life. The wait, the study of the shot and the colour is the result of the desire to give back in an essential and concise manner a clean composition, marked ‘simply’ by colour.
