On the occasion of Franco Fontana. Colour, the flagship exhibition of Testimoni, 7th edition of the Brescia Photo Festival, Fondazione Brescia Musei has decided to offer the public an even more engaging visitor experience.

Through the collaboration with Ivano Giordano, creator of the exhibition soundtrack, the public will be guided and accompanied by sound along the exhibition route, to discover the artist’s perception of the world.

“For the People section I chose music that was very colourful, warm, but, in its own way, also cerebral in its reworking and evoking a kind of retro futurist lounge imagery.

The transition to the second section, Urban Landscapes, is accompanied by a slow, meditative rhythm, suggesting the photographer’s search for geometries and perspective illuminations. Imagination, dream, astonishment, echo Fontana’s gaze, which gives life to surreal scenarios through the compression of planes, the exaltation of colour, the angularity of cuts and contrasts composed (and recomposed) in a harmonious vision.

For the Asphalts section, I imagined hoarse voices, spurious sounds from which colourful melodies emerge, without forgetting the road, the common denominator of these images with their very different dynamics. All along the way, I was reminded of the association of asphalt as a dark canvas of pictorial abstractions; the ability to abstract starting from the most concrete material, the one we walk on every day; the improvisation and jazzy virtuosity of a photograph that comes from nothing.

In Landscapes, finally, it was the principle of rarefaction that guided my selection. The path of elevation is completed with the gallery of marvellous ‘metaphysical’ landscapes, to accompany which contemporary minimalist music seemed to me the most appropriate choice, due to obvious stylistic and conceptual affinities; listening to it, one cannot help but think of the liberation of light and colour, of the magic of Franco Fontana’s perspective illusions.”
