Vittorio Sella, Martin Chambi, Ansel Adams, Axel Hütte. Mountain Light
24 March 2023 / 25 June 2023
Light of the Mountain is the major exhibition that Fondazione Brescia Musei and Skira put on to explore, with three absolute protagonists of twentieth-century photography and a contemporary master, the iconographic universe of the mountain.

The exhibition
Produced by: Municipality of Brescia, Fondazione Brescia Musei, Alleanza Cultura, Skira
Curated by: Filippo Maggia
The Mountain Tale features the giant Ansel Adams with his black-and-white photographs of landscapes of American national parks, true totems of the twentieth century; Martin Chambi, one of South America’s first important photographers, with his Peruvian Andes steeped in ethnographic and historical documentation; Vittorio Sella, one of the most extraordinary historical mountain photographers, committed to documenting mountaineering explorations like no other. And finally, with an original portfolio in progress commissioned by Fondazione Brescia Musei on the Brescian Alps, the ‘home’ mountain imprinted by Axel Hütte, among the most important representatives of contemporary German photography. The exhibition represents the spearhead of the 6th Edition of the Brescia Photo Festival, an event produced by Fondazione Brescia Musei, for the extraordinary 2023 edition named after the theme Capital, and also involving Mo.Ca – Center for New Cultures.
